چکیده

Background Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and osteoporosis (OP) have a complex interplay in terms of pathogenic mechanisms. In this regard, radiogrammetry (DXR) the hand, technique that measures bone mineral density (BMD) at central metacarpals (MC), is associated with worse prognosis patients RA (1). However, DXR an expensive technique, not very accessible our environment. Our group demonstrated excellent reproducibility MC measurement by DXA (2) good correlation between BMD measurements obtained (3). Objectives To evaluate if baseline non dominant measured can be used as prognostic marker, resembling DXR, early (EA). Methods A total 378 subjects from PEARL (Princesa Early Arthritis Register Longitudinal) study underwent 2 nd to 4 th MC’s diaphyseal area hand (Hologic 4500). sociodemographic, clinical laboratory parameters, therapeutic data radiographic findings are collected protocol. Radiographic progression was evaluated hands blind expert rheumatologist assessing erosion scale modified SvdH index both two year follow-up visit. predictive value DXA, multivariate models were fitted using generalized linear Stata 14.0 for Windows (Stata Corp LP, College Station, TX, USA). The dependent variables remission (SDAI<3.3) after years follow-up. Both adjusted classic affect such age, sex body mass (BMI), cumulative DMARD treatment disease activity model. Results After adjustment BMI: a) those tended show higher (p=0.328); b) had significantly lower shown Figure 1(p=0.001). Conclusion registry EA, we detected basal diaphysis bones, assessed greater adjusting main factors influencing BMD. Therefore, could conclude low initial constitute poor factor EA. 1. Correlation mean 2-4th bones radiographyc assesed radiological years, BMI, calculated margins command base don analysis. Bone mineral density loss in postmenopausal onset rheumatoid arthritis is not greater than premenopausal onset disease

Background: Postmenopausal onset rheumatoid arthritis (post-RA) is expected to have greater bone mineral density (BMD) loss than premenopauasal onset (pre-RA) due to estrogen deficiency and aging. This study aimed to compare the BMD status of the two RA groups with age-matched non-RA controls.   Methods: The patients with RA on follow-up examination were stratified according to age of onset. ...

interrelationship between radiographic findings of hands and bone mineral density in patients with rheumatoid arthritis

introduction: rheumatoid arthritis (ra) is the most common autoimmune joint disease. osteoporosis is a well-known consequence of ra. objective: the aim of the present study was to determine the interrelationship between radiographic findings and bone mineral density (bmd) in patients with ra. methods: 70 patients with established ra (according to 1987 acr criteria) were included in a cross-sect...

Changes in hand and generalised bone mineral density in patients with recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis.

OBJECTIVES To evaluate changes in bone mineral density (BMD) in the hands, hip and spine after 1 and 2 years of follow-up, in relation to antirheumatic and antiresorptive therapies and disease and demographic variables in patients with recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis (RA). METHODS Changes in BMD measured in metacarpals 2-4 by digital x-ray radiogrammetry and in the hip and spine by dual ene...
